White Buffalo stone is a rare, white mineral predominantly composed of magnesite and quartz. Discovered in 1993, the only source for White Buffalo is the Otteson family's Dry Creek Mine in Tonopah, NV. Often mistakenly called "White Buffalo Turquoise," it is highly prized in Southwestern jewelry for its stark white color and black or brown spiderweb matrix, though it contains no copper.
It is quite hard, typically ranging between 5.5 and 7.5 on the Mohs scale, making it excellent for jewelry, similar to turquoise.
It is named after the rare white buffalo, representing spiritual significance and purity.
