This unique stone is named after a now debunked theory of a continent called “Lemuria” thought to have sunk into the Indian Ocean. Though it is widely known to be untrue, many mythical doctrines have stemmed from the story of this disappeared land mass. The name of this particular calcite probably came about because of its distinct ocean blue and tan bands, denoting a strong land/water connection.
Lemurian Aquatine Calcite is also known as Blue Argentinian Calcite, Argentinian Blue Onyx and Argentinian Aquamarine Onyx, as the main source of this stone comes from (as you can probably guess) Argentina.
Sometimes called the ‘sobriety stone’ Lamurian Aquatine Calcite is thought to strengthen willpower, help control negative thinking and raise self-awareness.
