• Is the Kingman mine still producing turquoise?

  Yes. The Kingman mine in the Cerbat Mountains of northwestern Arizona has been in commercial production since the 1880s, and the ground was worked by Native peoples for centuries before that. It is one of the few American turquoise mines still producing — Sleeping Beauty, the other famous Arizona source, closed in 2012.
• What colors does Kingman turquoise come in?

  The full Arizona range. The clean medium sky blue the trade named Kingman Blue, deeper ocean blues, and blue-green through green, with matrix running from soft brown to true black — sometimes with flecks of pyrite. Kingman is known for its webbing: the water-web and spiderweb patterns collectors look for. We stock both clean blue strands and matrix strands.
• Is your Kingman turquoise treated?

  It is stabilized, and that is the only treatment. Stabilization reduces turquoise's natural porosity so it polishes cleanly and holds up to drilling and wear — no dye and no color change; the blue and the matrix are the stone's own.
• What shapes and sizes do you stock?

  Pebbles from 3mm to 7mm, 3–6mm graduated heishi, 4mm rounds, 6mm rondelles, graduated rondelles and barrels up to 20mm, and large chips and nuggets from 8mm to 22mm in blue and green — most of the big material comes through as Limited Editions, small runs that sell through.
• How should I care for Kingman turquoise?

  Like any turquoise. It is soft (Mohs 5–6) — keep it away from perfume, lotion, and household cleaners; no ultrasonic or steam; wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry. Remove it before swimming or the gym. Stabilization reduces porosity, but turquoise still absorbs what it sits in — the precautions stand.
