dsPremier: How we create one-of-a-kind pieces

Stones in the dsPremier collection are exclusively designed, cut, and produced by Dakota Stones. Each are cut from unique and premium rough materials to exacting specifications to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Many strands in the dsPremier collection are very limited. We currently work with a lapidary artist that cuts most of the limited batch cuts in our dsPremier line.

When we find an interesting piece of material to work with we then need to partner with a skilled lapidary source. A lapidarist uses gemstone cutting, grinding, and polishing techniques to create decorative items such as cabochons, engraved gems, and faceted designs. Our new supplier cuts for some of the most well known names in the world of fashion jewelry, cutting beads with the craftsmanship of a season diamond lapidary and delivers unique pieces of art. These pieces are seldom, if ever, seen on the market.

We manufacture products that meet the quality standards of our in-house design and production teams, and the highest ethical standards in the industry. We make sure Dakota Stones branded products come from a source whose factory we have visited, so we can understand the process and inspect conditions.

A big part of the process when adding to any Dakota Stones product line is vetting a supplier. Do they meet the Dakota Stones standards? Will they see a valued partner in Dakota Stones? Do they adhere to ethical standards of manufacturing?

The demand for factory workers and cutters in the industry has never been higher. Increased demand has led to some of the highest increase in wages for any industrial work. We take pride in knowing that the artisans who manufacture our products are paid well and are experiencing the growth of this industry first hand.
